Author Portraits - Hunter S. Thompson

Here's a few personal things I've been working on to keep in practice, there'll be more commission work I'll release later in the year, but hopefully this is enough filler for the time being...

To celebrate Cult Cinema Sunday's 2014 Halloween Mystery Movie Screening I was commissioned to produce a print for the almighty creature feature that is Monster Squad!

I'm writing for a blog...

I'm currently writing artist features for The Roots of Creativity. I'm sticking with an article every Monday and Friday and have already lined up more interviews over the coming weeks.

If you're interested in a feature, get in touch via

Episode 3 - Jake Machen

Episode 4 - Caitlin McEvoy

Give Roots a follow over on their Facebook page for future articles and updates.

TALENTHOUSE - Lindsey Sterling Tour Poster

I had a few free days waiting for client feedback a couple of weeks ago and decided to enter a Talenthouse comp. Because why not.

I haven't entered a competition for years, part of me disagrees with the ethics involved (ie. voting systems, "doing it for the likes") but I had a concept and took a stab at it. Judging is now on so hopefully I've got a chance at the final commission.

2014 Open Portrait Session

Last year I decided to make an annual limited giveaway where people send me mugshots and get a free illustrated portrait. I'd highly recommend doing this if you're a designer/illustrator as it's a great way to vary your portfolio and try something different.

I always have loads of fun working on them, and it's great sending them back to the people involved.

Huge thank you to Joward and Geena, Sally, Lori, Kayleigh and Emma (and James ;) ) for getting involved.

Quick design I worked on whilst waiting for client feedback. All it took was a drunk chat with fellow whiskey lovers in a pub until we decided we needed a logo.

It's up for grabs, if you're interested email to discuss pricing/licensing. Text is placeholder.

Hearts Alive

I've been working on this piece in-between travelling around the country and working on commissions this summer. I've wanted to get something nautical done for a while, and after spending weeks near the sea it's kind of spurred me on. I might work on a series based around this theme, who knows, it depends how much down time I get.

Now to add colour.

CULT CINEMA SUNDAY - Bill & Ted's Excellent Adeventure

Hero Complex Gallery - I Am The Law / A Life of Crome Exhibition

I recently contributed to Hero Complex's recent "I Am The Law / A Life of Crime" exhibition, celebrating figures of authority and/or criminal intentions in film. I chose "Filth" (Lionsgate) purely because it's one of the best British films I've seen in the past year and is one of my favourite pieces of literature.

I feel honoured to be asked to exhibit with HCG as a lot of my own design heroes have worked for previous shows. Thanks to Adam and the HCG crew for giving me the hook up.

Inland Clothing - Desire Collection

I've got t-shirts up for sale over Inland Clothing

It's a company based in the sunny North of England, and each shirt collection is set around a different theme with a variety of artists and designers submitting there interpretation.

The theme for this collection was "Desire".

I started by looking into how the theme of Desire is interpreted by different cultures and how it was symbolised in history and mythology. I eventually came across “Sailing to Byzantium” by William Yeates, a poem in which Yeates speaks about his own desire for intellectual, creative and spiritual journey – not just to wither away, but to keep creating and discovering. Hopefully, this is something all creatives can relate to. I stuck with using the imagery described in the poem rather than translating the context. The nautical theme symbolises journey, and is also something which is visually open enough for a whole range of people to enjoy.

Check Inland out on Facebook and Twitter for info on future releases and special offers.
