I had some time to spare yesterday and pieced a few of these together, just the negatives of various ink drawings and some watercolour textures I've done over the past week - simply overlayed over each other. Honestly thinking this would make a good print series...failing that...anyone wanna lend me a projector so I can light my house up with this stuff???

(Text is placeholder)

I've been working on this piece on and off for a while now. I put it up for use for a local music and arts festival but it didn't end up used, so I'm still trying to find something to do with it!

It actually started out as an idea for an editorial piece I was commissioned to produce by a music magazine just over a year ago, but they went with another one of my ideas instead. I liked the way this image could work out so much that I had to follow it up and get the thing finalized. So there you go, it's been an on/off project to fill in the gaps inbetween other jobs but I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.

So yeah, above is the original editorial rough concept which I've cleaned up a bit.

Had to add birds, because I draw birds way too much...pencil and ink all the way.

I did some album artwork for a music/branding label just over a month ago, some of the type
work still has to be completed but here's a few variations of the current stage...

Cult Cinema Sunday presents DRIVE

So before I say anything else....yep, I jumped on the Drive poster bandwagon! After taking a break from working for Cult Cinema Sunday I'm back taking part in their print design brief. I've got a couple of other projects lined up with them in the next few months, one I get to draw Bradd Pitt, the other I get to draw Steve Buscemi's handsome mug.....this month was Ron Perlman's turn...
No idea why but I'm really pleased with the pencil stage of Perlman's face...

In all honestly, I think nearly everything that can be done with a Drive poster design has been done. A massive range of illustrators and designers have given it their own interpretation, and most of them are pretty awesome (two of my favourites are Gabz variant and Ken Taylor's piece). I've tried to make this rendition as unique as possible but with a film that's already extremely stylized as this is it's actually incredibly difficult to try something different that works.

But anyway, hope you enjoy.

The Apex Project

I recently was asked to take part in The Apex Project, a collaborative piece set-up and directed by graphic designer, eventual self-made millionaire (or so he keeps telling me) and batshit insane art director, Mike Tierney.

The outcome of the project is to create artwork to be projected onto the human body as a virtual, interactive tattoo (examples can be seen on the Apex site). The catch being the artwork had to represent one or more of the words Strength, Power, Passion, Elite and Ambition.

Pencil to inks to digital progression shots are above too, just because it's something I like to do these days...

Shit that makes me want to draw harder

I've been wanting to stick one of these together for some time now.
One day I can only hope to finally achieve the level of skill they's all down
to hard work.

Cult Cinema Sunday - Overview

So as you've probably guessed by now over the past few months I've been working on prints for the various films for Cult Cinema Sunday. So far I've had six pieces go to print and sell pretty well (still more available over at the CCS Store!) and now it's time to take a break from the project to get to work on other things.

It's been a great opportunity to build up a new section of my portfolio and work on a subject I would never had had the opportunity to before, and it's also got me quite a bit of coverage.

Here's all the pieces together with some close up shots of the actual prints below.

Cult Cinema Sunday: Fear and Loathing print

Here's my latest print for Cult Cinema Sunday. I wanted to do something which avoided liquid-like bendy necks, lizard people shagging and Johnny Depp gurning into the camera.

Personally it's my favourite print out of the whole project so far and I'm really happy with it! Goes on sale at the screening on Sunday 20th, after that all remaining copies go up for sale over at the Cult Cinema Sunday store!

Cult Cinema Sunday Horrorfest

Cult Cinema Sunday are holding an all-day event showing back-to-back horror films over a  full afternoon (The Thing, Evil Dead II, The Shining and A Nightmare on Elm Street).

Here's the prints I did for EDII and NOES, they'll be going up for sale next week over at The Cult Cinema Sunday Shop

Cult Cinema Sunday - True Romance

I'm showing off more print work I've done for Cult Cinema Sunday! April 15th's screening is True Romance, one of my top films of all time. I had the idea for the poster months and months ago and got it completed in about two and a half days which is some kind of record....

Progress shots below as well as the finished thing...

Keep a look out on their Big Cartel page, limited edition prints going up for sale soon!

American Gods

I started a self-initiated project late last year based on Neil Gaiman's Neil Gaiman's American Gods...

Suffice to say I got too carried away on character pieces and I originally planned to do ten, it started taking up too much time and distracting me from other work, so unfortunately these were the only two which reached a level of completion.

The time felt right to finally show them off. Hopefully...HOPEFULLY I'll pick this project up again sometime this year and get a complete set...because it's really fucking fun to work on :)

A  couple of new things.

Here's something I've been working on inbetween other projects (mainly Cult Cinema Sunday prints...). I'm hopefully making this into a ltd. edition print once I find a decent printing company...mainly because I really don't fancy trimming 50 of these by hand to fit the vertically longer format.

And I finally got around to getting some new cards printed! Figured that since I'm hitting a few more events this year it'd probably be a good idea.

CULT CINEMA SUNDAY is an established film night at FRUIT which caters for the classier film fan. Recently they've been in touch with illustrators, designers and other creatives to produce prints for specific screenings - and above is my piece for their screening of Ridley Scott's BLADE RUNNER: The Final Cut. It's one of my personal favorite films of all time so I had to take part in this...I probably did spend too much time on the piece but ah well. Check out the trailer...

Anyway, make sure to check out CULT CINEMA SUNDAY'S BIG CARTEL PAGE...leftover prints from previous films are being sold there (they're cheap too!)
